Personal Philosophy

Education is a powerful tool that empowers and transforms lives. While children need food, clothing, and shelter to survive, they also need opportunities to learn, grow, and explore the world around them. Education provides more than academic knowledge it teaches lifelong skills, builds confidence, encourages critical thinking, and prepares students for successful futures.

As a 9th and 10th Grade English Language Arts teacher at Miami Carol City Senior High School, I believe it takes knowledge, patience, compassion, and a genuine passion for teaching to make a lasting impact on students. Every day, I have the opportunity to inspire, challenge, and encourage my students to become confident readers, writers, and critical thinkers. My goal is not simply to teach English, but to create an environment where students feel seen, heard, and capable of achieving greatness.

Patience has become one of my greatest strengths as an educator. I have learned that building meaningful relationships with students and their families creates a foundation of trust, respect, and success. When students know someone genuinely believes in them, they become more willing to take risks, overcome challenges, and reach their full potential.

My personal experience with autism has also shaped the educator I am today. It has given me a deeper level of empathy and compassion for the students and families I serve. I am able to connect with parents on a personal level because I understand many of the challenges, emotions, and victories they experience. My knowledge comes not only from my education and professional training but also from lived experiences that have strengthened my commitment to advocating for every learner.

Every day, I strive to do more than teach reading and writing I strive to mold young minds into something extraordinary. I want my students to recognize their strengths, believe in their abilities, and understand that their future is not defined by their circumstances but by their determination to succeed. My classroom is a place where students are challenged to think beyond the text, develop their voices, and realize that education is the key to unlocking endless possibilities.

As I often reflect,

"If learning is a one-way street, how is it that the mind navigates like a four-way path?"

To me, this quote represents the idea that learning is never the same for every student. Every mind process information differently, and every learner follows a unique path toward success. As educators, it is our responsibility to recognize those differences, embrace them, and provide every student with the support, encouragement, and opportunities they need to thrive.
